Sun Xin

Vice president of Hainan Institute of Real World Data, a doctoral supervisor with Chinese Cochrane Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, an external expert of the Center for Drug Evaluation and the Center for Medical Device Evaluation, NMPA, director of the Real-world Studies Board of China Association of TCM. He has taken charge in the establishment of IDEAL China Center, MAGIC China Center, ISPOR West China branch, and ChinaREAL, set up and led the clinical research, evaluation and translation team (CREAT Team) and established a multidisciplinary methodology and technology system integrating real-world studies, traditional experience and evidence-based evaluation, quick guide recommendation, health economy and policy research, established a close cooperation with multiple institutions nationwide in real-world data and established a data system around medical devices, perinatal infants, severe cases, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

【Scientific Prowess】

In the past five years, the research team led by Sun Xin has been approved with 23 national projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation (major, general and youth), National Science and Technology Major Program, National Key Research and Development Program of China, National “One Thousand Youth Talents Program”, National Medical Products Administration, Chinese Medical Board (CMB), etc.

【Academic Achievements】

The team members have published 43 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author, including three papers on the world’s authoritative medical journal BMJ (IF=27.604), with a total influence factor of 230.23; published nearly 10 articles on top professional journals such as Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, American Journal of Epidemiology, European Journal of Epidemiology, Annals of Surgery, British Journal of Surgery; and 4 highly cited articles in the Web of Science. He has served as the chief editor of the national planning textbook for graduates, “Evidence-based Medicine” (2nd edition) published by People’s Medical Publishing House, the first edition of “Evidence-based Chinese Medicine” published by Shanghai Science and Technology Press and served as an associate editor for the first edition of the monograph “Practice of Evidence-based Medicine” published by People’s Medical Publishing House. He has won a second prize for progress in science and technology from the Ministry of Education (ranked second) and the outstanding achievement award of BMJ (which was awarded to a Chinese researcher for the first time), and the outstanding branch award of ISPOR (the only middle-sized branch to win the award).

【Main Research Orientations】

1. Medical product evaluation and medical policy research: A medical product evaluation system is established by integrating multidisciplinary methods and technologies such as real-world studies, traditional experiments, evidence-based evaluation and health economy research to support the regulation and clinical application of medical products and health insurance decision-making;

2. Disease management and medical policy research: The management strategies of high-risk diseases are established by integrating the health and medical data and medical literature database system to improve the quality and safety of disease diagnosis and treatment.
